Airport location and the importance of a complete address

Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation describes Hurghada International Airport as approximately four kilometres from the city and serving Hurghada plus destinations such as El Gouna, Sahl Hasheesh, Makadi and Safaga. That does not mean every hotel or resort is a short drive from the terminal.

Save before arrival:

• the full hotel or compound name;
• district and map pin;
• booking reference;
• reception, host or property contact;
• terminal, flight number and expected arrival time;
• the address in a form the driver can understand.

Similar hotel names and compounds with several gates cause mistakes. Show the destination before departure, not only after a route dispute begins.

Before payment, confirm:

• the exact meeting location;
• how the driver will identify the booking;
• vehicle size and luggage capacity;
• change and cancellation terms;
• whether a required child seat is confirmed.

A sign with your name is not sufficient identity by itself. Match the provider, booking number and contact details with your own confirmation.

Option 2: a ride requested through an app

Uber’s official HRG page says pickup locations may vary by terminal and that current directions appear in the app after requesting a ride. The booking also shows the driver’s name, plate, vehicle make and colour.

Use this sequence:

1. collect luggage and move to a clear public area;
2. enable location and check the selected terminal/pin;
3. request only when ready to walk to the vehicle;
4. follow the current in-app pickup directions;
5. match the driver and vehicle;
6. do not board a different car based on a verbal explanation;
7. keep the booked trip active until arrival.

No provider guarantees a car at every time. If the meeting instruction appears unsafe or unclear, do not walk into an isolated area; clarify it through the service or use another option.

Option 3: a taxi arranged on arrival

For a ride not created in an app, confirm the destination, expected price, currency and payment method before departure. Show the address and make sure the driver understands the exact hotel, district or compound.

Do not hand over an unlocked phone, bank card, PIN or one-time code. If the conditions change after boarding, avoid escalating a dispute inside a moving car. Ask to stop in a safe public place and use an official support channel when available.
