Egypt e-Visa: How to Apply Through the Official Portal
Egypt's official eVisa portal, current fees, passport requirements, application timing, printed eVisa requirement and eligibility checks without intermediaries.
Short answer
Apply only through Egypt’s official e-Visa portal at visa2egypt.gov.eg. As of 23 August 2026, the portal says to create an application at least 7 days before departure, requires a passport valid for at least 6 months from the arrival date, and lists a USD 30 tourist single-entry fee and USD 65 tourist multiple-entry fee.
After approval, download and print the eVisa. Holding an eVisa does not guarantee entry; final admission is decided at the border.
Who can use the eVisa
Eligibility depends on nationality and passport type. The official list can change, so always recheck it before a new application.
The portal also excludes or limits certain passport and travel-document categories. If you hold a diplomatic, service, special, official or another special document, verify eligibility separately and use the appropriate embassy or consular route when the portal does not support your document.
Current fees
As of 23 August 2026, the official portal lists:
- tourist single-entry eVisa — USD 30;
- tourist multiple-entry eVisa — USD 65.
Payment is made online through the official process using supported debit or credit cards. The processing fee is non-refundable. Recheck the amount before payment because fees can change.
When to apply
The official portal says to create an eVisa application at least 7 days before departure.
This is not a promise that every case will be decided in exactly seven days. Avoid leaving the application to the last moment and do not rely on a commercial intermediary’s unsupported “guaranteed fast-track” claim.
Passport requirement
The official FAQ states that the passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Egypt.
Also check that:
- the application data exactly matches the passport;
- the correct document type is selected;
- uploaded files meet the current portal requirements;
- the same passport used for the application will be used for travel.
How to apply
A practical flow:
- Open
visa2egypt.gov.egdirectly. - Create an account on the official portal.
- Start an eVisa application.
- Enter nationality, passport and trip details exactly as requested.
- Add accommodation or itinerary information when required.
- Review all fields before submission.
- Pay inside the official portal process.
- Save the application confirmation.
- After approval, download the eVisa.
- Print it and carry the paper copy for arrival.
Do not use payment details copied from a third-party guide. Payment should take place inside the official portal workflow.
Documents for arrival
The official FAQ lists items such as:
- passport;
- printed eVisa;
- travel itinerary;
- hotel booking or accommodation details for tourists;
- supporting documentation for some business or family visits.
The exact set depends on the trip. Recheck the current FAQ before departure.
Why print the eVisa
The official portal explicitly requires the eVisa to be printed and presented at the port of entry.
Keeping the PDF on your phone is useful as a backup, but do not rely on a phone-only copy when the official source asks for a printed document.
Approval does not guarantee entry
An approved eVisa is not the final decision on entry. Border authorities still perform admission checks at the port of entry.
Do not treat the approval email as a guarantee that entry will be granted regardless of the documents and circumstances presented at the border.
Children
The official portal says each visitor requires an application. Parents can apply for their children from the parent account.
Do not combine multiple travellers into one application when the portal requires an individual application for each visitor.
How to spot an intermediary or clone site
Commercial sites may appear in search results and charge a service fee. Before entering passport data, verify the domain: visa2egypt.gov.eg.
Red flags include:
- “100% approval” promises;
- guaranteed acceleration without official confirmation;
- payment to a personal account outside the portal;
- requests for your account password;
- requests for OTPs;
- domains with extra words that imitate the official service.
A commercial intermediary is not the Egyptian government portal just because the design looks official.
If there is an error or no response
If you already have an active application, avoid creating several new applications just because you do not understand the current status.
First:
- check the portal account;
- check email and spam;
- use the official Contact Us channel;
- keep the application reference and payment confirmation;
- never post passport or application details publicly.
